Good Evening Emerson Families,
Thanks to all who came out for our Spring Fair! What a great time we had! A special thanks to Lindsey Catrambone for leading the way and all the other PTA volunteers who made it such a wonderful event.

🌟STATE TESTING
This week we begin our 4th and 5th grade State Testing. Please help your students get a good night sleep and a light breakfast.
Please note that testing begins at 8:40am. Please make sure that students arrive on time. Students who arrive after that time will not be permitted in testing areas until after testing is concluded for the day.
🌟PBIS/StarBuck$ Goals
This week we work on empathy, respect, and perseverance.

This is the last week to get those Walk-a-Thon donations in! We are currently at 56% of our school wide goal. Donations will be accepted until Friday, April 18, 2025. Every classroom that reaches their goal wins a fun doughnut party!

We had a wonderful Talent Show this weekend! It was a joy to see all of or Stars perform. A HUGE thank you to Elaine Hammel, Leah Wood, and Jon Sharron for their amazing leadership.

🌭🎪2025 Emerson Spring Fair🎪🍿
Our BIGGEST PTA fundraiser of the year is Friday, 4/11/25 from 3pm - 6:30pm! This exciting event is open to the public. Look out for a free raffle ticket coming home in your child's backpack next week that may be used at the fair to participate in Friday's Spring Fair activities! Students MUST be accompanied by an adult family member.

PBIS/STARBUCKS
This week we will specifically working on Scholarship and Perseverance. There is a lot of learning left to do and students will soon have to show that they are ready for the next grade level. This week we will be asking teachers to choose students who really stand out in these to areas to recieve a StarBucks BONUS and special reward. As a school we are still working towards $800 StarBucks.

Good Evening Emerson Families,
This is our last week before Spring Break. This week we will be a full week and we will continue to have our special programs this week. Here are some of the updates for the week.
⭐️SPRING BREAK⭐️
Spring Break will be next week from March 17 - March 21. School will resume on March 24.
⭐️IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE NOTE⭐️
Family vacations are not an excusable absence even if you tell us ahead of time or provide a note. The state of California only allows very specific absences to be excused. Please see our family handbook or BUSD policies for more information.
⭐️PTA/FC Meeting⭐️
Wednesday, March 19th at 6:30 in our auditorium we will have our PTA/FC. All families are welcome. We will be celebrating Emerson Community Volunteers being awarded the Honorary Service Awards. It will be at 6:30 in the auditorium. Childcare will be provided.
⭐️Emerson Stars Pledge⭐️
This week we will be concentrating on being kind to others. We are working on these concepts inside and outside of the classroom. We will be working on earning 800 StarBucks for lunchtime karaoke.

This week we welcome in March! There are only two weeks left until Spring Break. We'd like to thank all families for partnering with us last week for family conferences. It is such a valuable experience to make sure that we are focused on the continued growth and of all of our Stars.

On Tuesday, 5th Graders will walk to Muir to get a preview of life at Middle School. Please wear an Emerson shirt if you have one.

Each week Emerson students work to meet the goals of our pledge. We want student to understand that when we are at school we are a team, a learning family. We understand that our Stars will make mistakes as they grow and learn. The deadline for the PTA Honorary Service Awards has been extended to EOD, Thursday, 2/6! The Emerson PTA will soon be selecting recipients for the 75th Annual PTA Honorary Service Awards. If you know anyone that has gone above and beyond to take care of Emerson and its community this year and/or through the years, or as a continuation of years past, please nominate them using the Nomination Form here:

Good Evening Emerson Families,
We hope you are all safe and well. Our heart is with anyone affected by the fires in any way. We know that when things like this happen Los Angeles feels much smaller. We are all connected. As we return back to campus, we hope to make students feel safe and cared for. We also want you to know that should you need anything we are here to help please reach out. Additionally, we will be talking to our Emerson Community about how we might help others in need. Please reach out if you have ideas.

We will restart this goal this week. We want to focus on community and team building as we return to school. We want to focus on succeeding together and remembering how to show kindness and understanding of each other. Stars are expected to meet school expectations for both citizenship and scholarship and we will work to hold each other accountable for following the STARS Pledge.

Mr. Pedro and the BUSD Grounds Crew worked very hard to get things ready for school. Please note that there are still felled branches and tree parts around the exterior of our campus. Please be careful. Additionally, although all kiddos love to play with sticks, please discuss with your children that they are not toys and while at school they must stay on the ground.

We hope you had a wonderful break and are ready for 2025! It is hard to believe that is the year. We are excited to resume our busy and productive year. Please know that the year moves quickly from this point on and we want to make sure are Stars are reaching for success as we move toward the end of the year.

🌟🎶🎤💃🌟2025 EMERSON TALENT SHOW🌟🕺🎤🎶🌟
This Wednesday, 1/8, and Thursday, 1/9 are the casting workshops for the 2025 Talent Show. This is not an audition, as everyone will be cast, but a chance to meet with the directors to discuss performance ideas. There is no need to have a full idea of the act yet, just a desire to perform in the April 5th show. The workshops are from 3-5pm in the auditorium - please attend only one. A parent or guardian must be present unless the student is in after school care. Please scan the qr code in the attached flyer (or the paper flyers that were sent home before break) to fill out the information packet.

🌟Emerson Staff Holiday Luncheon🌟
We will be celebrating our amazing Emerson teachers and staff with our lovely annual Holiday Luncheon on tomorrow, Monday, December 16th. Cash donations may still be accepted through this week to contribute to the purchased luncheon items! Any cash donations can be dropped off at the front office to Maureen Baer.

Hope your having a wonderful weekend! We are moving quickly through these December weeks. Here our updates for the week of 12/9:
🌟PBIS/StarBucks Goal🌟
As we try to work towards a special goal on 12/20, this week we will be working on honesty and taking responsibility for our actions. We want our Emerson Stars to know that mistakes are part of the learning process and so is recognizing those mistakes and making a change. Please take some time to talk about this as a family.

Good Evening Emerson Families,
Here we are in DECEMBER! This is going to be a quick and busy three weeks of important learning as we end our first semester. It is important to talk at home about focusing on the characteristics of good scholarship.
⭐️PBIS/StarBucks⭐️
As Scholars, Emerson STARS should strive to develop a strong curiosity, a love of learning, active engagement in class, asking thoughtful questions, taking responsibility for their work, being organized, demonstrating good listening skills, and showing a willingness to try new things and persevere through challenges. These are going to be our goals for PBIS/Starbucks during these next three weeks.
We hope to earn 800 StarBucks each week for a special reward on December 20th.

PBIS/StarBucks Goal
We have seen a lot of growth from our Stars in working together. Our goal for this week will continue to capitalize on this momentum. We will focus on succeeding together and understanding how to be respectful of our learning spaces.
We are working towards earning 1000 StarBucks.
PTA/FC Meeting
We will be holding our PTA/FC meeting in the auditorium Thursday, Nov.21 at 6:30. Light snacks and child care will be available.

⭐️PBIS/StarBucks Updates⭐️
We have noticed that many students are really beginning to understand what is means to be an Emerson Star. WELL DONE! We are continuing to focus on kindness, empathy, and effort in the classroom. We know that school can be hard work and this week we will be rewarding students for really trying with full effort in class and around campus. We hope that you also encourage your Stars to make the most of all their opportunities at school to learn and grow.

🌼DIA DE LOS MUERTOS OFRENDA🌼
You are invited to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos with us. The Emerson classrooms will have the opportunity to walk through our Emerson Dia De Los Muertos Ofrenda on Wed., 10/30 and Friday, 11/1. 🎁CHARLESTON WRAP CATALOG FUNDRAISER🎁
This Friday, November 1st, is the beginning of our annual Charleston Wrap catalog fundraiser. Forms were sent home in your child's Thursday folders. There is only a two week window of time to order wrapping paper and other wonderful holiday gifts. The proceeds will go to our Fundraising Committee and will help fund activities like dance workshops, choir, field trips, and much more. This is a wonderful way to support our Emerson community.

⭐️PBIS/STARBUCKS Goals
Last week I visited almost all classrooms to remind students of some Emerson expectations. We would love for all of our adult family members to discuss with students the importance of kindness and responsibiity at school. Our Emerson family is 550+ students and it is important to a peaceful and productive community for students to treat each other and the adults who take care of them with kindness.
This week we will focus on kindness and good sportmanship and hope to earn 1000 StarBucks.

School Site Council will be held Wednesday, October 23rd at 6:00pm online. The agenda will go out tomorrow. All voting member must attend.
