Happy International Women's Day! We know this is a special day for many of our Emerson families. We hope you have a wonderful week. This is the last week before Spring Break!
🌟PBIS/StarBuck$ Goals🌟
Each week our Emerson Stars work on social emotional learning through our Second Step Program. This month we are working to put all of that learning to good use. On top of being amazing scholars, we are working to be kinder, more empathetic, and to take responsibility for our actions. We know that everyone is still learning and growing and are here to help. This month we are working towards earning 1500 StarBuck$ for a whole school picnic.

Next week is Spring Break. School will be closed March 16th-20th. We will see you on March 23rd when school resumes.

Calling all Emerson Stars and families! Let's read and raise money for our amazing school with our Emerson Read-a-Thon running now through Friday, 3/13. All donations will enrich the lives of our Emerson students through various programs such as (but not limited to) music education, choir, workshops, assemblies and field trips. Our next Emerson PTA meeting has been rescheduled from March 11, 2026 to Thursday, March 26, 2024 at 6:30pm in the Emerson auditorium. We will have our Honorary Service Awards ceremony and our 2026-2027 elections! Babysitting will be available.

THIS weekend is the 2026 Talent Show! Come and support 90 of your fellow Stars on stage! Performances are Friday, 2/27 at 6pm and Saturday, 2/28 at 2pm in the auditorium. These are two completely different shows, totalling over 50 unique acts.
This PTA supported event is free admission and general seating.

The week of January 26 is “The Great Kindness Challenge.” This week is a time for our entire school and district to come together in celebration of compassion, connection, and the simple acts that make our school and community stronger. This year, Burbank Unified is proud to join the California Department of Education and thousands of schools across the state in participating in The Great Kindness Challenge, a global movement dedicated to creating a culture of kindness in schools.
The California Department of Education’s encourages all districts to participate in this year’s theme, “Show Us Your Kind,” which invites school district communities to shine a light on the powerful ways they bring kindness to life. This statewide effort aligns beautifully with our district’s values and our commitment to ensuring everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.

During these weeks we will continue to focus on perseverance, compassion, and scholarship. In the classroom, teachers will be guiding students to focus on finishing and mastering learning from the first semester. It's Red Ribbon Week!
This is a week to concentrate on healthy choices! The week is put on by our Student Council and supported by the PTA.
Wednesday is the Walk-a-Thon. Students will wear red and then put their Walk-a-Thon Tshirts over.
PBIS/STarBuck$ Goal
We are continuing to work on respect and kindness this week. We are specifically working on the language we choose at school. Students should be using works that are school appropriate at all times. We are working towards $500 StarBuck$ this week.

Due to 5th Grade Outdoor Science School, we will hold our
Halloween Costume Parade on TUESDAY, October 28th.
TK-2 Parade 1:00-1:30
3-5 Parade 1:40-2:10
Families will enter through San Jose and Kenneth gates and join us on the upper field.
On Friday, the 31st, our Stars will be encouraged to wear Halloween spirit wear, pajamas, shirts, hats, socks, etc.

Halloween at Emerson
Due to 5th Grade Outdoor Science School, we will hold our
Halloween Costume Parade on October 28th.
TK-2 Parade 1:00-1:30
3-5 1:40-2:10
On Friday, the 31st, our Stars will be encouraged to wear Halloween spirit wear, pajamas, shirts, hats, socks, etc.

All Emerson Students are cordially invited to participate in this year’s PTA Reflections Arts Program! The Reflections art program is a state and national PTA program that celebrates the arts in education. Submissions can fall into 6 categories: Literature, Film Production, Visual Arts, Music Composition, Photography, & Dance Choreography. Students may submit more than one art submission and every student at Emerson may participate!
Extended Due Date:
The due date for all submissions has been extended to Wednesday, 10/15/2025.
