Emerson 2025-2026 Walk-a-Thon
Our HUGE Walk-a-Thon fundraising event was a success last week! Thank you for the donations and volunteers to help make the event happen!
Before you toss your students' walkathon t-shirt in the washer, make sure to tally up those marks on the back of their t-shirt to help hit our fundraising goal!
We are at 50% of our school wide $20K goal. Let's continue to share those donation pages! Donations will be accepted until November 26, 2025.

Red Ribbon Week
It's Red Ribbon Week!
This is a week to concentrate on healthy choices! The week is put on by our Student Council and supported by the PTA.
Wednesday is the Walk-a-Thon. Students will wear red and then put their Walk-a-Thon Tshirts over.
PBIS/STarBuck$ Goal
We are continuing to work on respect and kindness this week. We are specifically working on the language we choose at school. Students should be using works that are school appropriate at all times. We are working towards $500 StarBuck$ this week.

Due to 5th Grade Outdoor Science School, we will hold our
Halloween Costume Parade on TUESDAY, October 28th.
TK-2 Parade 1:00-1:30
3-5 Parade 1:40-2:10
Families will enter through San Jose and Kenneth gates and join us on the upper field.
On Friday, the 31st, our Stars will be encouraged to wear Halloween spirit wear, pajamas, shirts, hats, socks, etc.

The Reflections art program is a state and national PTA program that celebrates the arts in education. Submissions can fall into 6 categories: Literature, Film Production, Visual Arts, Music Composition, Photography, & Dance Choreography. Students may submit more than one art submission and every student at Emerson may participate!
Extended Due Date:
The due date for all submissions has been extended to Wednesday, 10/15/2025.

This coming Friday, 10/3 is CA Art Day. Please join us for a fun celebration at recess/nutrition and lunch to celebrate! Tables will be set up for students to “Make A Star” and to sign their name to their artwork. Stars will be placed into an exhibit and displayed in the school for all to see. Your Emerson student(s) will have an exciting opportunity to name our very own Emerson Star (a real star in the universe!).

All Emerson Students are cordially invited to participate in this year’s PTA Reflections Arts Program! The Reflections art program is a state and national PTA program that celebrates the arts in education. Submissions can fall into 6 categories: Literature, Film Production, Visual Arts, Music Composition, Photography, & Dance Choreography. Students may submit more than one art submission and every student at Emerson may participate!
We’ll have an informational Zoom meeting to discuss the program further tomorrow, Monday 9/29 evening at 7pm.

Students are working towards $800 StarBuck$ this week. Our goal this week is to Respect Everyone. We are working with students to build communication skills so that they are able to disagree with respect and kindness.

A TB Assessment held at Emerson tomorrow, Monday, 9/22 from 1:30pm-5pm.
In order to be cleared to continue to volunteer through the school year at Emerson, a Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Assessment is required. Our very own Emerson nurse will be conducting TB assessments on Monday, 9/22 from 1:30pm-5pm at Emerson.
A TB assessment is good for 4 years. If you are unsure if you need an assessment, you may reach out to Ms. Maureen Williamsbaer, cc’d here, at the front office.

⭐PBIS/Star$Bucks Goal⭐
This week we will continue focus on building community and succeeding together as we continue review our expectations at Emerson. We will again work to collect $800 Star$Bucks as a school for a schoolwide Fun Friday. I will also be visiting classroom to do community lessons with students over the next couple of weeks.

Reminder, our Emerson Scholastic Fall Book Fair will be happening next week for our Emerson Star students, families, and friends at school between the dates of Monday, 8/25 through Friday, 8/29. We need volunteer support during this event. These events are not possible without your support!
We need help starting tomorrow, Monday morning for our classroom previews for our Emerson Star students! This is a fun volunteer event that encourages our students to read and get excited to buy books and raise money for our school! The Back-to-School week is finally here! We are so excited to welcome everyone back. I know that this is going to be a wonderful year full of adventure and joy. Please spend a few minutes reviewing this email. It will contain a number of important items to keep in mind.
✨⭐️SCHOOL BEGINS WEDNESDAY AT 8:30✨⭐️
Gates will open at 8:10 and we will allow families to enter with their Star. Adult family members may stay in line with students and meet their teacher. At 8:30 students will go into their classroom and family members will exit the campus. We appreciate your cooperation with this. Families cannot go to the rooms at this time.
We open four gates each morning.
- Auditorium for Kinder only
- Cypress for ALL grades
- Kenneth for ALL grades
- Lower San Jose for ALL grades
After the first day, only students are allowed through the gates. Students should NOT enter through the main building between 8 and 8:30. There is a lot of adult traffic in that area and we want to make sure students are supervised and get where they need to be.

Please label all of your Star’s items. We have had some EPIC loads lost and found in the past that eventually are donated. PLEASE LABEL, so we can get things back to you.

This year we welcome Sandra DeBarros, who will be assisting me with administrative duties every few weeks for a couple of days, while I will be attending to some personal health needs. Ms. DeBarros is a seasoned semi-retired Principal. She was my AP while I taught at Miller and was the Principal of both Disney and Jefferson Elementaries. She is amazing and I have told her how much she is going to love Emerson.

Online Data Confirmation begins On Thursday, July 31, 2025. Every family needs to complete data confirmation yearly even if you just enrolled. You should have received a letter with all of the information and directions. ⭐Everything Emerson Days:
Everything Emerson Days are very useful times for families to meet and greet each other, learn about our Emerson Events and family participation opportunities, Emerson Spirit Wear, and find out who your Star’s teacher will be. 😀
You may come to any of the following days or times of the event. You only attend one session and each is a drop-in event.
Thursday, August 7th 7:00am-11:00am -or- 5:30-7:00pm

⭐Family BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic) Event
On Friday, August 8th from 11:30-1:30 we will open up our upper grass field for families to eat lunch together. I will be on the field playing some music for a relaxed casual meet and greet.
⭐Save the Date for Our Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Welcome Tea:
On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM, we will be hosting our TK and Kinder Welcome Tea. You may enter through the Auditorium gate and meet under the lunch shelter to start, then visit the classrooms after a small presentation. Families are not able to go into the classrooms on the first day so this is your opportunity to meet the teacher and take pictures. This event is only for TK and Kindergarten students. Our PTA will also be there to let you know about our events, opportunities to volunteer, and how to buy Emerson Spirit Wear.
⭐Finally if you are receiving this email and your child will no longer be attending Emerson next school year, please reach out to me, Julie Hubbell or Maureen Baer, so we may disenroll them from our system.
